The P. W. & S. R. R. Soon To Resume
According To Statement Made In The Somerset Standard Of Last Week
Scarcity Of Labor Retards Work

The Somerset Standard prints the following, relative to the P. W. & S. railroad which is to resume operations within the near future, and concerning which a complaint was filed by citizens of Somerset county, with the Public Service Commission, some days ago:

"Official denial is given to a rumor that was prevalent during the last week that the P. W. & S. R. R. had been abandoned. The rumor was without any foundation whatever and was probably caused by the temporary absence from town of officials of the company on business of vital importance to the continued operation, such as the purchase of engine, equipments, rails, etc.

Some citizens of Somerset evidently do not realize what efforts are being made to give the town a railroad that will be of service, not only to the town, but to all adjacent localities.

"The present management is ambitious to perfect all arrangements to give Somerset an up-to-date railroad service, and encouragement should be given it by all citizens to this end.

"The P. W. & S. line from Somerset to Ligonier has temporarily been delayed in the construction work owing to the scarcity of track laborers and this has caused a temporary switch in the operation of getting the track in condition on this part of the line.

"A new survey has been made of a connection of the United Railway with the P. W. & S. at Kesslerville, and the work necessary for this connection is being pushed.

"Two new locomotives are now being inspected, and when this standard equipment is received the service will be opened up from the Somerset terminal."

This road when once put in good shape for service will be of great benefit to the people of Somerset and adjacent territory as well as to people of Ligonier and all who desire to visit Somerset from this side of the mountain. The road if properly managed ought to be made to pay financially.
