Former Conductor Kuhn Gets Verdict of $14,740
After being out but a short time, the jury in the case of former Conductor Charles H Kuhn vs. the Ligonier Valley Railroad company, brought in a verdict, last night, in favor of the plaintiff, for $14,740 an increase of $4,740 over the $10,000 verdict given the ex-conductor in the first trial.
The case was hard fought, with Gaither and Whitten, and Lightcap and Warden representing Mr. Kuhn, and Moorhead and Smith representing the railroad company.
The point on which the case largely rested was respecting the delivery or non-delivery of orders to the conductor to wait until the freight came down. The plaintiff contended that he heard no order to that effect, and while there were several witnesses who said they heard Minnich give the order, they could not say that it had been heard by the conductor.
