Work Progressing On Railroad
Cambria & Pittsburg R. R. Being Put In Order

Work is progressing on the Cambria & Pittsburg R. R., formerly the P. W. & S. R. R. from Ligonier to Somerset. An engine has been bought and will arrive from the south in a short time. Rails have been purchased and will be laid on the mountain where taken up some months ago connecting with the rails now down on this side up to the mountain and the part not taken up on the Somerset side, when the road will again be opened for traffic from Somerset to Ligonier, both for freight and passenger trains. We have been told that coal mines will be opened on both sides of the Laurel Mountain and other products will be shipped over the road. This road is quite an advantage to the Somerset people, cheapening and shortening the route to Pittsburgh. John C. Ewing has charge of the matter and everything is being done to get the road in working order soon as possible.
