Ligonier-Somerset Are To Be Connected
Ligonier, Pa., May 3. The Pittsburg & Cambria Railroad Co. yesterday took over the Pittsburg, Westmoreland & Somerset railroad and will join it with the United Lumber Railroad Co. at Somerset, which it purchased some months ago, opening direct traffic between Ligonier and Somerset. Mines and timber lands along the right of way which were included in the deal will be developed.
The new road will connect with the Baltimore & Ohio railroad at Ursina. The total distance is about 35 miles. John C. Ewing is general manager of the new company.
Work was started today repairing the old Pittsburg, Westmoreland & Somerset line, which has not been operated for about a year, and within a short time passenger trains will be operated. The price paid for the holdings was not announced.
