Charles Irwin Was Seriously Injured
Charles Irwin, a brakeman on the Ligonier Valley railroad was very seriously injured Thursday afternoon of last week at the Ligonier freight station. He was on a car which was being shifted to its place at the freight station and after locking the wheel, having drawn the brakes, he started to get off the top of the car but was caught between the car and shed roof and shoved and rolled off the car, falling to the hard ground between the station and the moving car. He was badly cut and bruised on face, head and other parts of the body.
A doctor was summoned and an ambulance called and he was taken to his home on Washington street. It was thought at first that he was not seriously hurt but he rapidly grew worse during the night, becoming unconscious in which condition he remained for a number of hours. Saturday he was reported slightly improved and has been getting better steadily ever since with prospects of an early recovery.
