New Mine Opened in Ligonier Valley
A new mining operation was added to the Ligonier Valleys growing list of industries at 11:10 yesterday morning, when the first wagon of coal from the No. 2 mine of the Ramsey Coal Company was dumped into a waiting L. V. R. R. car.
By two oclock, in the afternoon, the car was ready for shipment.
The new mine is located near the A. B. Clifford residence on the road to Wilpen. The company has 140 acres of coal to develop. E. C. Ramsey is the president; Harry Lohr the secretary and treasurer; and Samuel S. Brownfield the superintendent.
The plant is said to be modern in every respect. The new tipple is painted a bright red, with the companys name nicely lettered on the side. The office building is painted also, in bright colors.
The company plans to employ 70 to 100 men as soon as the headings are in a little farther.
