Fatal Accident
William E. Robbins Had Leg Crushed Under Train
William E. Robbins, an old and respected citizen of Ligonier, was fatally injured last Saturday evening by having his right leg crushed and his right arm broken at the Market street station of the P. W. & S. R. R. when a wheel of a car passed over his right leg badly crushing it and his right arm was also broken.
The nearest correct that we have been able to get the story is that he was standing on the platform at the station and was either struck by the cowcatcher on the locomotive or in attempting to move back fell and slipped in front of the train. The train was moving very slowly and was stopped at once by the engineer. Mr. Robbins was carried to the home of Mrs. Byers near by and first aid rendered. He was then taken in the Sibel ambulance to the Latrobe hospital where everything possible was done to save his life but he sank rapidly and passed away Sunday evening, March 5th, at 8:45. More . . .
