Will Install Electric Haulage System
The work of putting on the new roof at the Peters Paper Company's plant, at Kingston, is moving along rapidly, the steel work being all up and the sheeting now being put on. It is expected to have the new roof completed in three more days.
The big new paper machine which takes the place of the one blown up some time ago is being received from time to time, a great part of it being already installed. It is thought that the new machine will be up and in use in about three weeks.
The big traveling crane is also being installed in the machine room of the plant and it will be used in the erecting of the new paper machine, and afterwards in the handing of the heavy machinery necessary about the machine room.
The paper business is now booming and the only trouble experienced at the neighboring plant is that of getting rags and making paper fast enough to supply the demand. Roofing paper is now bringing a big price on the market.
The company has again opened up the coal bank belonging to it, east of the mills, which was abandoned when all the coal had been removed which could be taken out by the method of mining then employed. The company is installing an electric haulage system and will soon again be getting coal from the mine. There are 37 acres of coal to be mined yet.
