Community Tree Here; Is Over 61 Feet Tall

And it's a whopper, all right.
In charge of Sergeant Bell, the monster pine, presented by Mr. Hyland, of the L.V.R.R.,
was brought over from the Valley, this afternoon, upon two flat cars, both of which had all they could do to hold it.
The tree, sixty-one feet in height, was accompanied by a lot of extra branches, it being figured that they could be attached to replace any that might be broken, or to fill up any bare spots.
The cars were placed handy to the big crane to be used in unloading the tree.
Members of the committee on decoration, amazed at the size of the tree began to wonder where they were going to find stuff enough to put on it, and they realized that they had a job ahead of them. Undismayed, however, they put on their thinking caps, and they can be relied upon to make the big pine look its best.
The tree will be erected at once, on the railroad lot, at the corner of Depot and Alexandria streets. Following its being placed, the committee on decoration which consists of T. N. Shaw and W. L. Mahon, chairmen, Geo. C. Anderson and Sons, Inc., John L. Ackerman, James F. Toner, F. J. Reese, Albert Abbaticchio, G. S. McClay, John Ross, C. L. McClelland and J. Harry Kloos, will proceed to get busy so as to have
everything in readiness by 3:30 o'clock, next Thursday afternoon, when 3,000 children will be lined up for the treat; its distribution being followed by the illumination and dedication of the tree at five o'clock.
