The New Steel Company Makes Its First Heat
In the presence of a number of the officials of the company, and a number of steel experts, the first heat of steel was poured from the big electric furnace at the new plant of the Latrobe Electric Steel Company, yesterday afternoon.
The furnace, one of twelve of its design in this country, and the largest one of the kind in the country, produced the goods, al right, and from now on, the products of the Latrobe Electric Steel company will figure in the steel market, the furnace being ready to turn out the steel for castings as fast as the orders may be secured, up to 20 tons a day.
The visitors present at the pouring of the first heat were outspoken in their favorable
comment upon the size and completeness of the new industrial establishment. They styled it a fine plant and predicted success for the company.
