P. W. & S. Co. Is To Purchase New Equipment
J. W. Baker, superintendent of the P. W. and S. Railroad, was here, this morning, enroute to Harrisburg, the purpose of his trip being to see about the purchase of a locomotive and a number of freight cars which the Pennsylvania Railroad Company is offering for sale at that point.
Mr. Baker stated that the company was doing the best business in its history and that additional equipment was needed.
Both the passenger business and the freight business, he continued, were gaining in volume, and he seemed quite optimistic regarding the outlook for the future.
The company, Mr. Baker said, contemplated improving the road to some extent, with the idea of making wrecks less likely of occurrence.
The lumber camps, in Somerset county, are busy places, just now, and an immense lot of timber is being marketed.
Somerset county maple syrup of the 1913 vintage is being offered for sale in Somerset county stores at the present time.
