How The L.V.R.R. Is Operated Nowadays
Men at the station, this morning, got an idea as to the new order of things prevailing on the Ligonier Valley Railroad, since the big wreck.
While the morning passenger train was at the station, awaiting its time for departure, a freight engine, running near the brick works at Kingston, jumped the track, blockading it and also blocking the siding which is to be found at that point.
Within a very short time, a written order has handed to Conductor Chas. Naugle, of the passenger train. It was from the new train dispatcher, W. V. Wyer, and it directed the conductor to hold his train until the siding could be cleared sufficiently to permit of the train's getting around the de-tracked engine.
When the siding had been cleared, another written order came to Conductor Naugle, from the train dispatcher directing him to proceed.
The train left here at five minutes after ten, or more than a half hour behind time.
Written orders are the rule, now, in operating the L.V.R.R. system.
