Raymond Ankney Gets $3,000 For Leg Broken In the Ligonier Valley Wreck
For the injuries which he received in the Ligonier Valley wreck on the afternoon of July fifth, Raymond Ankney, the fifteen year old son of Winfield and Jennie Ankney, of Ligonier township, will receive $3,000 damages, Orphans' Court, this morning, having authorized G. C. Frank, appointed recently as the guardian of the boy, to effect with the Ligonier Valley Railroad company a settlement of the lad's claim for damages, for the sum of $3,000.
The boy had his right leg broken near the knee, and was otherwise injured in the wreck, and he lay in a Pittsburgh hospital several weeks following the receipt of the injury.
Upwards of half of the claims for damages, arising from the Ligonier Valley wreck, have been settled by the company, it is said. Others are in process of adjustment, negotiations being still on. But two or three suits have been filed, thus far, and they are to be heard at the next term of court, unless settled in the meantime, or postponed. The filing of other suits is contingent upon whether negotiations now under way are terminated successfully or not.
