Railroad Man Attempted Suicide
F. F. McConnaughey Cut Both Writs And Throat With Knife
Now Getting Well At Hospital
The story of the attempted suicide of F. F. McConnaughey, a popular engineer of the L.V.R.R. Co., is already familiar to most of our readers, as it has been published in detail by the Latrobe Bulletin, has appeared in the Greensburg and other newspapers of this section. It is certainly a sad affair and Mr. McConnaughey, his family and friends have our deepest sympathy.
On Tuesday afternoon of last week about 4:30 while the freight train of which Mr.
McConnaughey was engineer was lying up the Wilpen branch at North Ligonier, he got off his engine and walked back along the train and when the train was ready to start he was signaled by the crew to go but they receiving no response started in search of him and found his bleeding and prostate body in a car and found that he had cut both wrists and his throat with his pocket knife, severing the sinews of both wrists and the artery of one wrist and severely cutting the fleshy part and muscles of his throat. When found he had lost a great deal of blood and was taken from the car by employes of the company and a local physician phoned for who accompanied him to the Latrobe hospital in special train where his wounds were dressed and where under the careful attention of doctors and nurses his is slowly improving and will be able to leave the hospital in a short time. He
has been visited by a number of his Ligonier valley friends and is always found in a hopeful and cheerful condition. What caused him to commit the act he has not yet divulged. He has two young daughters at home, has a very pretty home in Ligonier and has always been well, cheerful and prosperous.
