Latrobe And Somerset To Loose The Convenience Of A Fast Train To Pittsburgh

According to word from Ligonier, when the new schedule goes into effect on the P.R.R, on the 27th of November, Latrobe will be deprived of the great convenience which it now enjoys, in the stopping of No. 37, the fast westbound train due here at 7:50 a.m., it having been found necessary by the company, in re-arranging its schedule, to throw No. 37's time of arrival at this place at 9:00 o'clock, with no provisions made for its stopping here at that hour.

As is generally known. No. 37 was given a stop at this point by the company, so as to furnish passengers over the P. W. & S., from Somerset a quick service to Pittsburgh, thus competing with the B & O in this respect.

The re-arrangement of the schedule, however, in relation to the added conveniences afforded by the north river tunnels and the new station at New York City, will throw the train more than an hour later upon its arrival here, and the company does not plan to have it stop here, as it would be too late to attract the Somerset traffic..

Thus, Latrobe, on and after the 27th of November, will have no fast train service to Pittsburgh, from 6:33 A.M. until 9:40 A.M. while the accommodation service will be limited to the 6:51 and the 8:03 trains, the time of these trains being given without taking into account a likelihood of slight changes in their running time, when the new schedule is announced.

It is also announced that the Johnstown Accommodation will not connect any longer with the Uniontown Express, thus taking away still another convenience which the community all along has enjoyed.
