New Locomotive
The Ligonier Valley Railroad Has Secured Large Engine

Early last fall the Ligonier Valley Railroad Co. ordered a large locomotives engine of the H-6 or Mogul type. It was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia and has been completed and was shipped on the 23rd of April and arrived at Ligonier last Friday. It will be used to haul the heavy freight from here to Latrobe especially from the coal mines north of town. This new engine will greatly facilitate in transportation of freight, as the coal operations of the mines of Ligonier Valley have much increased the traffic, but this new and big engine will greatly facilitate matters and relieve any congestion of freight that might otherwise have occurred.

(NOTE: This was locomotive No. 12. This locomotive had a 2-8-0 wheel arrangement that was known as a Consolidation type, not Mogul. The reference to the H-6 type is probably a reference to the Pennsylvania Railroad's H6 Class locomotives that were Consolidations. jra)
