New Ligonier Railroad
Will Come To Ligonier From Connellsville Via Jones' Mills And Rector

Ligonier is almost certain of securing a new railroad in the near future. This road is to come from Connellsville and up the Indian Creek to Jones' Mills, Donegal township, and then down the Loyalhanna to Rector, Ligonier township, where it will connect with the P. W. & S. and then down to Ligonier. Engineers have been at work on this route for some time and last Saturday they arrived at Rector. There is strong evidence that the building of the above road will be commenced in the near future and pushed rapidly to completion. If above road is built it will open up a vast territory of timber and coal hitherto untouched and will bring to market the resources of that section of the valley.

There has been a great deal of guessing and speculation about this road, as to its object and purpose and by whom financed. We can tell our readers that barring accidents the road will be built and if it is, it will be backed by a company fully able to take care of all the interests of the road. When this road is completed it will be the beginning of new things for Ligonier valley, by the development of more timber and coal and will give us an additional impetus in the line of business improvements.
