A New Town
The work on the Pittsburg, Westmoreland and Somerset railroad has been progressing all winter and the line is nearing Somerset, says the Ligonier Echo. The track has been laid through the tunnel for several days and is connected up to the part that was laid east of the tunnel about three months ago. The road is completed as far as the village of Husband, which is about three miles from Somerset. Nothing preventing, the road will be completed by the latter part of this month and trains will then be running through to Somerset, opening up regular travel between that town and Ligonier and on to Pittsburg and other points. The travel and freight on this road will doubtless exceed the expectations of most people and open a new field in timber, stone and coal on the mountain and in both Westmoreland and Somerset counties.
