New Florence May be Terminus
The Westmoreland Central railroad company may construct their projected road from Ligonier to New Florence on the Main Line of the Pennsylvania. Bolivar is the desirable terminal but a tunnel through the Summit would have to be made if that route were chosen. New Florence offers an easy grade down Tub Mill creek and stations could be located at Ft. Palmer, Boucher and West Fairfield along the route while the line would penetrate the heart of the Pittsburg seam of the Connellsville coking coal. A number of prominent farmers met with the railroad officials last week and agitate for selection of New Florence as the terminus.
