Train Jumped The Track
Picnic Trains Delayed For Over An Hour This Morning
The picnic trains bearing the schoolboys and girls of Wilmerding to Idlewild today were delayed for over an hour, and it was nearly noon before they reached the park. The delay was due to an accident to No. 8, due here at 8:51 and which was running ahead of the picnic trains.
As No. 8 was passing AX tower at Donohoe, the engine jumped the track, having refused to take the point of a switch. The engine ran bumping over the ties for several hundred feet before it could be stopped. The cars however did not leave the rails and no one was hurt. The track was badly torn up and it was over an hour before the derailed engine was placed back on the rails. The picnicers were quite upset over the delay.
