Greensburg Man Is Acquitted Of Murder
Jury Decides That Killing Was Done in Self-Defense
Greensburg, Pa., February 13. After deliberating on a verdict for the entire night, the jury this morning acquitted Harry Luce, station agent for the Ligonier Valley Railroad, and general manager of the Ligonier Silica Brick Co., of killing Alfred T. Short, of Millwood, at Kingston, on Christmas eve.
Luce was on the stand all of yesterday afternoon. He said that Short and two companions had come to his store late at night for tobacco. A dispute arose of the mount of change due, and he said he struck Short over the head with a baseball bat after the latter made a movement to draw a revolver.
