Ligonier Will Surely Boom
New Railroad, Coal Development and Glass Works
Real Estate Advancing
It is Being Authoritively Told That The Coal Territory Will Be Developed North Of Town And A New Railroad Built From Ligonier To The Coal Field Arrangements Making For Testing Coal Near Rector And On The E. K. Caven Farm In Cook Township Prospects Look Bright For Coming Summer
Reports are prevalent that Ligonier will boom in the coming summer and as a result real estate is steadily advancing not only in the town but in the country as well, in many
instances property is welling for double what it would have brought a year ago.
There is (sic) well authenticated reports that a railroad will soon be built from Ligonier to the John Lytle farm where it is said the coke ovens will be built and that Rev. A. W. Lytle, who was in the valley last week from Ohio has sold his farm for that purpose. The first move will be the building of the railroad, to be followed by the coal operations at once.
The Seger Land company has also about 350 acres of good coal land and this company
has recently sold the J. Q. A. Blair farm which was bought from J. L. Hixson to a Pittsburgh party.
The money for the test holes for coal near Rector and near Harold on the E. K. Caven farm in Cook township has been raised and the tests will soon be made as a contract for putting down holes with a diamond drill has been about closed.
Then comes the report that arrangements are perfecting for the establishment of a glass plant near town. There is a fine glass sand rock on the mountain on the Byers-Allen tract of land which by analysis shows to be fully equal to the Derry sand rock, if not superior in some particulars.
With all these enterprises our town and valley must of necessity make decided financial advancements and that very soon. We have the materials, all that is needed is money and enterprise for their development.
