To Extend Ligonier Valley Railroad
The Ligonier Valley railroad is to be extended as soon as practicable into the coal territory south (sic) of Ligonier, to tap the Pittsburg vein of coal. The extension is to start at the Ligonier station and go up Mill creek to Lose and then up Hannahs run to the coal field.
Engineers were out last week, but on account of the deep snow left and returned on Monday morning and are going over the route that was surveyed several years ago.
George Senft, the general manager of the Ligonier Valley railroad, has been out several days securing the right of way, and the prospects are good for an extension of the road in the very near future. This will mean, of course, the shipment of the coal recently bought by the Snyder & Oliver Coal Company, of Pittsburg, via the Ligonier Valley railroad, and will therefore benefit Ligonier much more than if the coal was taken out by some other route.
