The Old Water Station Goes At Last
A New Freight Ware House
An Innovation That Will be Hailed With Delight By Our People - The Ligonier May Go In
To say, or print a statement regarding the tearing away of the old water station heretofore, brought incredulous smiles to the faces of Latrobe People, but now that the old eye sore is half torn town, we feel safe in giving it as fact that other and greater improvements will be made.
The Company has for a long time been sorely in need of greater yard facilities here and now they are about to make such changes as will place Latrobe even a way ahead of other places along the line. The old freight station, will, it is said, be torn down, and a new frame station be erected on the company's property opposite the First National Bank Building, or Showalters's drug store. The space between the proposed new building will be used for the convenience of drays in receiving and delivering freight.
It is highly probably that the tracks of the L.V.R.R. will be extended from their present termination at Alexandria Street, to Ligonier Street or, at least to a point opposite the passenger station, which will be maintained at the old place.
Of course no authentic information regarding what will be done can be give, but the statements above are what could be gathered at present.
