Will Not Be Sold
The Reported Sale of the L.V.R.R., Pronounced Nonsense by the Officials

For several weeks past rumors have been flying thick and fast regarding the Ligonier Valley railroad, it being alleged that a sale of this road to the P. R. R., was contemplated and that but a few thousand dollars only separated the buyers and sellers. The report was bolstered up and given renewed life when Superintendent Pitcairns private car went over the road and the deal was about closed by the outsiders.

The Advance reporter decided to investigate and calling Superintendent Senft on the telephone informed him that the road over which he exercises such careful supervision was about to be sold to the P. R. R. This was news to that gentleman, at least so he said after rattling the diaphragm with a good hearty laugh of about a minute duration. Why, said he, That's all nonsense. Mr. Pitcairn came out to Jeannette and then accepted the invitation of his friend A. W. Mellon to go over our road and see the steel works. His visit was purely social and no deal is contemplated. Mr. Senft assured the reporter that the Ligonier Valley would not change hands very soon and added that they already had five picnics booked and that he expected Idlewild to be more popular this season than ever. Thus is another bubble burst.
