Latrobe Advance
Wednesday, July 11, 1888
No developments have yet been made regarding the entry of the L.V.R.R. to the Latrobe freight station. At last accounts the plans were in the hands of the P.R.R. Co.'s general officers in Philadelphia after having been approved by the L.V.R.R. people and Superintendent Pitcairn.
The Fourth at Idlewild
Great crowds of people streamed to and from Idlewild all day on the Fourth and the picnic, held there under the auspices of the Holy Family Church, was a success in every way. The best of order, considering the size and makeup of the crown, prevailed during the day. The railroad facilities were first=class and the crowd safely handled without a jar. The management of the picnic did everything possible to make it a success and their efforts were rewarded by the good order and large turnout. Also deserving of praise is Superintendent Geo. Senft and his efficient clerks and train men.
