L. V. R. R. Difficulties
The morning train of the Ligonier Valley Railroad was behind time for 3 mornings last week, which was such a very rare occurrence that many people were inquiring for the cause. The reason was that with the frost going out of the ground rapidly a number of large stones were displaced and precipitated on or near the track during the night.
One fifteen ton stone took two charges of dynamite before it succumbed and allowed the train to pass. On Thursday morning engineer French discovered a rock which would weigh probably six tons on the track, and this caused a delay also. Numerous smaller stones helped to pike[sic] up the last time but no accident occurred. Superintendent Senft has in Messrs. French, Dunlap, Kuhn and Naugle a passenger crew which for efficiency, carefulness and courtesy cant be beat by any road, big or little in the country.
