The Crusher For The Ligonier Block And Stone Company Arrives In Latrobe

The new block stone and ballast company which is to operate on the blue stone at a point on the Ligonier Valley Railroad, is getting ready for heavy work. The new crusher has arrived and has been taken to its destination. It is very large, a number 6, and was manufactured at the Gates Iron Works, Chicago, Illinois. Judging from the appearance of the machine we would say that it is able to chew and break up any kind of rock to be found. The company will enter extensively into the manufacture of the famous Belgian paving blocks and railroad ballast. The quarry will be located up the side of the hill and from the crusher a large iron chutle (sic) will extend down to a massive bin situated by the side of the railroad track. The ballast will be delivered into this bin from which it will be loaded on the cars as wanted.
