The Mt. Pleasant Journal is in error when it ascribes the invention the boiler feeding apparatus and the spark arrester now in use on the Ligonier Valley Railroad, to Thos. Dunlap. Both these useful articles were invented and patented by Sam'l L. French, senior engineer on that road. We have no doubt but that Tommy "used his knife in an artistic manner on the desk at school, and will yet develop something or other for the advancement of humanity. The boiler feeding apparatus was described at some length in these columns some time ago. Of the very large number of practical men that have examined it not one has any fault to find. The spark arrester is very simple and is said to be much cheaper and a great deal more effective than the one now in use on the P.R.R. It delivers all of the sparks and cinders in an iron box located in the front part of the engine. The bottom of the box is so arranged so that the contents can be empties at any time and at any place along the road.

The famous stone quarry of H. Oursler & Sons, located at Coal Pit station, on the LV.R.R., was sold at public sale on last Friday by Col. J. M. Gallagher, assignee, to Captain J. J. Bierer, real estate and insurance agent, of Latrobe. We do not know whether the Captain is going into the quarrying business or not.
